Sterling Consultancy Services is the independent advisory arm of Sterling International Brokers Limited. The Company has been involved in the London Money Market since the 1960s, and in the 1980s enhanced the development of its public sector client base with an association with the CIPFA Loans Bureau. The Company now provides services to a wide range of Banking, Building Society, Corporate and Public Sector institutions on an international basis.
The consultancy division was established to give added value to clients. The aim of the service is to provide access to in-depth experience in all treasury management matters as they affect the specific institution requesting the advice. The service is based upon individual attention and personal contact, and works best as a partnership with the senior management of the client.
The key to effective treasury management is to manage financial risk with a balanced strategy, and to ensure that there are robust systems, controls, and reporting mechanisms to the Board and/or the ALCO Committee. Sterling Consultancy Services aims to ensure that clients achieve the most effective treasury management possible. This is achieved by monitoring, managing, and minimising financial risk, improving returns through a sound investment strategy, funding on a cost-effective basis from a range of sources, and adding value to clients' existing treasury operations. Treasury must also be viewed as a key element in maintaining or improving margins, and in developing a successful product base.
The service is particularly focused on helping the client to make the right decisions: when to invest, with whom, for how long, when to fund, how much, and for how long, and perhaps most importantly when and how to manage any ensuing risks. If these decisions are set in a context of sound policies and effective controls, treasury management will achieve optimum performance.
